JOIN IN THE FIGHT AGAINST PARKINSON’S DISEASE!

The original mission of LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s was to use research proven vigorous exercise, in the form of non-contact boxing, (adapted to the limitations and special needs of people with Parkinson’s disease), to slow the progression of the disease, lessen the severity of symptoms, improve balance and cognitive function, and prolong independence.

LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s has undergone rapid and unparalleled growth to serve the ever-expanding community of people living with Parkinson’s disease by providing boxing- based exercise programs to over 200 people. With 13,000 people diagnosed each year in metro-Atlanta, and over 25,000 diagnosed each year in Georgia, we have a responsibility to remain true to our original mission, as well as expand the program, including the training of new boxing instructors in the proven LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s Methodology; Educational Workshops, and Community Outreach.

In September, LDBF’s greatest accomplishment became a reality when they opened their Wellness Center allowing the organization to nearly double the number of classes held and offer additional services shown to help the Parkinson’s community. Classes to include: Speech Language and Occupational therapy, Yoga, and Neuromuscular therapy. In addition, the evening class schedule is expanded for those working members or for those who rely on a working care partner for transportation.

LDBF will continue its successful and popular live on-line virtual classes instituted as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as continued programming for care partners, including educational workshops and free exercise programs.

LDBF’s mission to improve the quality of life for people with living with this life altering disease has never wavered–it has only grown and expanded from the non-profit’s humble beginnings. As a 501 (c) (3) non- profit organization, LDBF depends not only on membership dues, but also the generosity of individual and corporate donors.  No donation is too small, and every dollar donated is fully tax deductible and goes directly back into the organization to develop new classes, hire the best certified trainers, offer educational programming – all of which directly improves the lives of those living with Parkinson’s, their caregivers and families.

Together, we can fight this disease!
