Since 2016, Geoff Uhal has been coaching people with Parkinson’s how to box through the Livramento Delgado Boxing Foundation (LDBF). He is Parkinson’s specific trained to coach via his completion of several training programs, including MDT Community Exercise for Parkinson’s program, which teaches boxing coaches the appropriate skills, techniques and nuances required to successfully train those diagnosed with the disease. Geoff’s additional certifications include USA Boxing Coaching and CPR. He is also an MMA striking Coach.
Prior to coaching for LDBF, Geoff worked as a boxing coach and self-defense trainer for Paul Delgado (founder of LDBF) at Delgado Boxing Gym. He taught over 400 boxing classes to people of varying skill levels, from novice to professional, including self- defense classes. He also served as the chief mentor to 20 underserved adolescent boys, working with them to cultivate a love of learning and a sense of community.
As a member of the United States Army, Geoff has extensive boxing coaching and training experience, including (but not limited to): OIC/Chief Instructor teaching 750+ U. S. Army Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen hand to hand fighting skills; head boxing coach for the 3rd Battalion, 75th Rangers, 11th Engineer Battalion, and 5th Engineer Battalion. He is the author of “Way of the Fist”, a manual for unarmed combat.
Geoff’s unique training style is tough keeping his LDBF boxers on their toes. He has a heart of gold and truly cares about his boxers by continuously developing and teaching specific ways for his boxers to adapt to their disease and the changes they will go through as it progresses.
Geoff recently opened his own boxing gym, The Fight House Atlanta, where LDBF “Inside the Ring” classes are held and next door to LDBF’s training facility located at The Fitness Firm Studio.
