LDBF Affiliate Training Program

LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s, in addition to offering boxing classes to those living with Parkinson’s disease (PD), has developed the LDBF Affiliate Training program, a 2-day training course designed to teach trainers about the complexity of the disease in order for them to provide the PD community with safe, successful and sustainable boxing exercise programs in Atlanta and beyond.

The LDBF Affiliate Training Program outlines those exercises focused on improving 25 PD-specific symptoms using boxing techniques and 35 types of equipment. Those trainers interested in creating an LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s program will be supported by a local team of trainers committed to providing hands-on leadership, education and training to others dedicated to servicing the PD community.

LDBF Boxing Curriculum 2-day course includes:

  • Lectures and practicum
  • 200- page training manual with two supplements
  • Educational and administrative materials
  • Exercise training video
  • Newsletter

LDBF Facts:

Unlike other boxing programs, LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s focuses predominately on authentic boxing training, the type of intense and varied activity a trainer would demand of a boxer preparing for a career in the ring. Each non-contact, vigorous exercise class includes 50 minutes of authentic boxing techniques, including drills that concentrate on core strength, balance, flexibility, movement in all planes, hand-eye coordination, range of motion, posture and agility, all things directly related to Parkinson’s symptoms.

LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s was developed by certified boxing instructors and adapted/enhanced by Movement Disorder Specialists to meet the needs and limitations of people living with PD. Boxers enjoy the authenticity of the program, which is unparalleled in the PD community.

LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s has anchored the PD Gladiators Fitness Network, now the Parkinson’s Foundation GA, since 2014 and has unified the fitness, medical and patient community on the importance of vigorous exercise in order to deliver Continuum of Care. LDBF is setting the standard as the premier organization offering solutions and symptom reduction for those living with Parkinson’s. Both LDBF Boxing for Parkinson’s and LDBF Boxing Curriculum are sponsored by the Parkinson’s Foundation and Parkinson’s Foundation GA.
